Troutdale Lower Elementary Field Trip to the C.U. Planetarium and Celestial Seasonings - Monday, November 16

On Monday, November 16, the Lower Elementary classes will visit the C.U. Planetarium and Celestial Seasonings in Boulder.  We will leave the school at 8:45am with parent drivers and school buses.  Our tour of Celestial Seasonings is planned for 10:15am and the planetarium is scheduled at 1:00pm.  Students will need to bring a sack lunch and drink.  We will return to school around 2:45pm.

Troutdale's Elementary Halloween Parties - Friday, October 30

Dear Elementary Parents,

This year's elementary Halloween parties will be on Friday, October 30.  We always need volunteers for this fun-filled day! We ask that your child bring his/her costume in a bag with their name on it to change into after recess. Our parties will begin after recess.

Michelle's Class Field Trip to Lair o' the Bear - Thursday, October 22, 2009

On Thursday, October 22, our class will visit Lair o’ the Bear park and will experience the River Journey program. We will follow a river’s journey as it tumbles down the canyon, meet wildlife involved in the voyage and investigate ways to conserve water and share this precious resource. We will leave school at 10:30 a.m. and return by 2:45 p.m.  If you are interested in driving on this trip, see the attached form and return to MSE by Monday, October 19.  Download Lair_o_the_bear

P.E. Schedule for Troutdale Lower Elementary students

Beginning on October 7, we will be transporting our lower elementary students to the Gym at the MSE Middle School. Both the boys and the girls will go twice a month and will be transported by bus to the Gym. Please note the schedule for the first semester below: THIS APPLIES TO TROUTDALE STUDENTS ONLY.

October 7 - Girls to gym

October 21 - Boys to gym

November 4 - Girls to gym

November 18 - Boys to gym

December 2 - Girls to gym

December 16 - Boys to gym

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD DRESSES APPROPRIATELY ON THESE DAYS (tennis shoes and comfortable clothing).  Call Dickie at 303-670-8540 if you have any questions.

Reminder for all Marshdale and Troutdale Lower Elementary families: Mile Run - Wednesday, October 7

We are preparing for our annual mile run.  We will need plenty of help around the course to keep the kids on track, cheer them on and pass out drinks to thirsty athletes.  If you would like to help during the run, we could really use you. Both Troutdale and Marshdale students will leave school at 9:00 a.m. and be back by 12:00 p.m.

Michelle's Class Field Trip to the Gathering Place - September 30, 2009

Michelle's class will take a field trip to the Gathering Place, a shelter for women and children in need, on Wednesday, September 30.  Parent drivers are needed for this trip.  Please read the attached note for more information and let Michelle know if you would like to help with this trip.  It is a student "favorite!"

REMINDER: Pizza Lunch begins on Sept. 22 for Troutdale

We are pleased to offer Tuesday lunches for students and faculty.  This year we will feature cheese pizza from one of Evergreen’s favorites--Nick –N- Willy’s Pizza-- and add baby carrots, organic lemonade, and organic Newman’s Own cookies for the meal.

Pizza will be served each of the Tuesdays we have school this academic year beginning on Tues., Sept. 22, and ending on May 18.  The two lower elementary classes will split the serving responsibilities and share proportionately in the profits.  Proceeds help defray the cost of overnight field trips, special materials and community service projects.  

ORDERS ARE DUE by NOW since lunch starts next week (on September 22nd) - SO DON'T DELAY!

Troutdale's 3rd Year Overnight Trip to Colorado Springs - September 24-25

MSE Troutdale 3rd Year class will take an overnight trip to Colorado Springs on September 24 and 25.  We will visit the Cave of the Winds, the Florissant Fossil Beds and the Florrisant Fossil Quarry and will be staying overnight in a hotel and eating out in several restaurants.  The cost for this trip is $65. Please sign and return the attached form, along with your payment, by Thursday, September 17.

MSE Instrumental Group - Accepting New Members!

The instrumental ensemble performs at school once per semester. We focus on fun, growth and musicality throughout the school year. This semester, we will perform a wide variety of styles and sounds. There will be opportunities for solos, duets and trios within our repertoire for members. Montessori Instrumental is open to all 4-8th year students who have some experience playing a musical instrument, and also open to 3rd year students with a teacher recommendation.
